Connectors as Generators
- Winner of Ugebladet Mandag Morgens '10 principles' competition.- Published in the book 'Futures of Cities' and 'Berlingske Tidende' Newspaper
As part of the IFHP competition focussing on what cities will look like in 2030, a concept for new neighborhood of sustainable city growth is proposed in central Copenhagen over an existing terrain vague consisting of a brownfield site and obsolete train tracks.
By connecting the existing fragments of the area a more integrated and mobile neighbourhood will evolve. The clash between programs will ensure diverse activity on streets, squares and public spaces and the close contact with nature and large recreational facilities provide a dynamic and diverse new open-ended neighbourhood for the future.
The proposal includes planting a lush urban forest, which cleanses the polluted site over a period of 45 years. Amidst the forest and disused tracks a new neighbourhood is constructed raised above ground with ample space for changing recreational needs and close contact with the pulse of urban living.
