City Intercom
Reclaimed steel & Bornholm granite.City Intercom is conceived as a part of Link UP Showcase and Copenhagen Design Week.
The project is inspired by the characteristic use of staircases of the Latin Quarter in Copenhagen.
Here citizens have reinvented the use of stairs into informal pieces of furniture used for socializing and recreation;
A non-commercial space which serves to quietly augment social sustainability in the city.
Two new staircases act as points of urban acupuncture in Copenhagen. They are designed to stimulate conversation and pause on two locations that currently do not offer places to rest and socialize.
The stairs are built solely using reclaimed materials; century old granite pieces borrowed from a local material storage and discarded L-profiled steel which has been welded into frames.
Project was done in collaboration with Anne Haaning and Inger Larsen
